Wi-Fi Connected But No Internet Access? Easy Steps To Resolve The Issue

Are you facing internet connection issues, even when the Wi-Fi is working fine? Well, this is a common issue that occurs once in a while. However, there is nothing to worry, if you are facing such a problem right now. Usually, it is not a major problem, and you can easily get your internet connection back with a few simple tweaks.

Here are some of the most common causes for no internet access.

  • Connection issues between router and modem
  • Internet Service Provider related issues
  • DNS cache related issues
  • Antivirus blocking access to sites

These are the most common issues that cause no internet access with your Netgear Router. Now let’s see how you can resolve these issues.

1) Router to Modem Connection

If you have no internet access, the first thing you need to check is your router-to-modem connection.

Often when you use a wireless connection for a modem, the internet speed and connection become unstable. So, if you have been using a wireless connection, switch it to an Ethernet cable connection. The ethernet will ensure a stable connection between the router and the modem.

Once done, check your internet. If the problem persists, there can be issues with your internet service provider.

2) Contact The Internet Service Provider

Sometimes the internet cannot be accessed if there are issues on the internet service provider’s side. Therefore, before moving further with other steps, you must make sure that the connection is good from the internet service provider’s side.

Contact your internet service provider and discuss the issue with them. If there is an issue on their part, they will be able to help you by providing exact information on when the internet connection will be restored. They can also send a service agent to your place to check the connection.

If the problem still persists, you must consider clearing your DNS cache.

3) Clear DNS Cache

You can easily clear the DNS cache through the command prompt on your Windows computer. Here’s how you can clear the DNS cache on your system.

  •  On your desktop or laptop, click the “Start” option, type “cmd”, and press enter.
  • This will open the command prompt on your computer.
  • In the command prompt type ‘Successfully flush the DNS Cache’ and press “Enter”.

And that’s all. Once you give the command, the system will clear the DNS cache in your system.

4) Update Firmware

Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause internet connection issues. Here’s how you can update the firmware of your Netgear Router.

  • Open your web browser
  • Go to www.routerlogin.net
  • On your account to “Settings”
  • In settings, click on the Firmware Update button.

This will update your Firmware. Make sure that you update the firmware time-to-time to avoid connection problems.

5) Reset the Netgear Router

Finally, reset the router and that may solve the connection problem. With the reset, the router will erase all the setting changes and restore the default settings. Here’s how you can reset your Netgear Router.

  • Open your browser and visit http://routerlogin.net
  • Now go to Settings > Erase
  • Now select the “Restore to default settings” option.

This will reset your router and restore the default settings. Restart your router after reset, and the network access will be restored.
